I would, however, not recommend this particular book to others. The series as a whole is a good one, and one that have enjoyed. The way it was handled caused me to loose all interest in the book or the outcome of the series. It was placed to cause tension and build anticipation, but lasted far too long.

The only other main issue I had was a 30 minute torture scene. it could have been more enjoyable if left to the imagination and not depicted in such a graphic and vivid way. I believe there are times and places where sex scenes can be appropriate but many of the scenes depicted in the book felt like cheap smut, placed there as fan service to keep people interested in the books. This book however added some things that I really didn't like, and think detracted from the overall story. Most of this series is brilliant, the vibrant world, interesting characters, and struggle for hope are parts that have kept me enjoying this series. Also can we get some queen representation here please! I would have loved if the author had kept Alide asexual, rather than setting her sexuality as just not having met the right person yet. Not every person needs to find they're romantic partner, and definitely not in the span of one book.

The only one that truly felt natural to me was Lysandra and Aidian. Speaking of romance, there was too much of it! The romances between Lorkin, Alice, Dorian, Manon, and even Rowan and Aelyn felt forced. Although I do think Dorian could have had a bit more of a personality in this book, I understand he is suffering after what he went through, but the author should have highlighted that and his healing more, instead she used it as an opportunity to push another romance though. They were too similar, but in this novel they differentiated a bit more. Before it seemed as though most of the characters had the confident guy facade and were territorial over the women. I feel like some of the male characters were finally afforded a bit more depth in this novel.
